It's one of those ridiculously busy times at work right now, so you'll get nothing of substance from me today. This, however, is making me feel a little bit better.
And be sure to tune back in tomorrow.

Fright N--Ooh, Yum
So, there's a new trailer out for the remake of Fright Night. It is being passed around because it stars David Tennant's bare chest.
The passing around prompted Dana to ask, "Does retweeting that David Tennant thing make us sexist pigs?"
Because I live to answer these questions and make these distinctions between sex and sexism, I answered, "As long as we don't feel entitled to it, I think we're okay in appreciating it."
So please, enjoy. Things like this should not be wasted.

Anna Fur Laxis
This one is burlesque, boys and girls. Don't play it if you don't want to see skin.
It's always impressive to see just how many ways there are to do something as simple as take your clothes off. And how much of that time can be spent doing nothing of the sort.

Rich Man's Frug
I love this set as a commentary on the entertainments of the upper classes. Ah, Fosse.
As I originally saw it on stage:

The Hands of Guan Yin
I know what is going on in this video. The mechanism is simple. But there's nothing simple about the way it ends up looking.

Coin-Operated Boys
There's a lot of this sort of dance around, and lots of people who do it well. This video is more of a rarity because the dancers in it are working together to create the experience, not just displaying their individual virtuosity.

Libertango
It's going to be a busy week, with a beta of Kelly McCullough's second Aral Kingslayer book to read and think about and all the usual work stuff to get done. So, instead of me spending time writing anything, y'all will get to see the hangovers of my impossible desire to grow up to be Cyd Charisse. Enjoy a week of choreography that goes beyond.
This, for example, demonstrates that two is merely the lower limit for a tango.

Tickling a Penguin
Because today is a day to recover from yesterday and prepare for tomorrow, not a day to get into more rants or serious topics, may I present, for your enjoyment, a baby penguin getting tickled. (Warning: noisy.)

Storm
Because there are a few people who read this blog who wouldn't find this any other way. And really, that would be a shame.

Just in Case the World Ends
Need a bit of this at the end of this week.
The Chariot
This is a song that came upon me one night
When the news, it had been telling me 'bout one more war and one more fight

I Have Lived
Now the neon lights are dimming. No more costumes, no more paint.
I admit that I was selfish. I have lived.

Son O Son
As long as I'm posting nice morbid folk music, I should note that Neil Gaiman is not the first to decide that folk music is all about love and death, preferably at the same time. It's highly traditional.

A Girl Needs a Knife
Will Shetterly posted this video while I was in the middle of blogging about rape myths. It was remarkably cheering. This song is definitely on my list of favorite Flash Girls tunes (not a short list). It's not the best recording, but it's clear enough, and worth listening to if only to find out who wrote it.
A Girl Needs a Knife
I hold it and stare at the line of my knife, and I think about things that it's done.

Not So Very Little
The worst version of "The Little Drummer Boy" I've heard was playing in a pizza parlor on Christian radio. It was a duet, male and female, with mismatched vibrato in their voices. The arrangement was basically New Age, country, soft jazz, and I think they'd reworked the lyrics to make them more Christian.
Yes, it really was that bad. I also heard it this year, which makes me extra happy that this version came along now. This is highly nontraditional and definitely not safe for many workplaces, so it's tucked below the fold.
Enjoy.

Every Anime Opening Ever Made
Via my friend Jodyth. I don't watch a ton of anime, but I was impressed at how quickly other examples sprang to mind from what I do watch.
And one more from the same creator on a different topic.
I love these music choices.

Experiment IV
I read about Republicans getting stupid over NSF grants and shook my head. I'd prefer to not believe it, but....
Then I read that one of these grants studied sounds for video games, and I sat up. Sure, I thought. Sure that's what they're studying. Uh, huh.
Experiment IV
We won't be there to be blamed.
We won't be there to snitch.
No, I know better.

More on Maddow and Stewart
Since interviews of Jon Stewart are rare, they tend to get passed along quickly. I assume most of the people who want to have seen Rachel Maddow's interview with Stewart on what he was attempting to do with the Rally to Restore Sanity. If you haven't seen it, I recommend the unedited version--long but worthwhile.
The interview is in many ways a discussion between geeks more than anything else. As such, it requires a certain amount of background to understand. Since the interview is about media, who better to give you that background than Pressthink's Jay Rosen. Enjoy.

Little Conversations
Ugh. No time for a proper blog post, probably not for a couple of days (although I've been wrong about these things before). Apropos of that, enjoy.
Little Conversations
You know I never could say anything in twenty words or less.
